Keeping things under control at Taiwan’s second largest port
Keelung Port is the most important international seaport for northern Taiwan due to its proximity to Taipei, the political, social and economic center of Taiwan. To meet the competition from neighboring ports, Keelung Harbor Bureau is actively promoting automation. One of the tasks was to centralize information on vessel transportation system, environment monitoring system, cargo handling monitoring system, security monitoring system, etc. and develop a web-based management system to streamline data flow and facilitate exchange of information. An optical fiber network was established to meet the demand for bandwidth. The system not only increased the efficiency of operation but also enabled the Bureau to promptly handle emergencies.
