5th China Best Hotel Design Award

In December 2013, Qing Wang Fu Club Suits & Serviced Residences in Tianjin China was awarded the China Best Design Hotel Award for Best Historical Inheritance and Preservation. Initially begun in 2009 by the Bund, an urban lifestyle magazine in China, the award is now known for recognizing top boutique hotel designs. China Best Design Hotel Award winners are chosen by public vote and by China Design Hotels Association. Qingwangfu (Prince Qing's Mansion) was originally built in 1922 and has since been designated as a cultural relic building and under special historical protection in Tianjin. Almost one hundred years old, this historical mansion has been reinstilled with a new meaning thanks to its considerate renovation. In May 2011, led by the Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Land Resources and Housing Administration, the Tianjin Historical Architecture Restoration and Development Company (THARD) launched the two-year restoration of Qingwangfu based on the principles of protection first, while allowing reasonable, safe use, and restoration to original state. Shanghai-based SURV, MAA Group's associated architecture firm, performed design services for the project as a part of the Qingwangfu restoration team.
