A MRT system for the greater Taoyuan region in the northern Taiwan metropolitan area

MAA was hired to do a study on the feasibility of an MRT system in Taoyuan County, one of the fastest growing areas in Taiwan and a part of the Keelung-Taipei-New Taipei City-Taoyuan metropolitan area. The study covered a 864 km2 area with a population of 1.4 million at the time of the study. The project was undertaken in association with Asian Technical Consultants, Inc. who assisted in the computer modeling of the travel patterns, and Louis Berger International, who provided expertise on MRT systems. MAA, as the leading firm, undertook all the network identification, engineering and financial analysis tasks.
