Greater Taichung Circular Railway
After Taichung and Taichung County merged into a new special municipality called Taichung City, gradual administrative changes in the Greater Taichung region created a demand for a Greater Taichung circular railway network. Taiwan Railways’ Mountain Line and Coastal Line have so far always been separated due a challenging topography. The purpose of this study is to examine the feasibility of a connection between the two existing lines using new railway viaducts and double track segments. This new circular line could improve east-west transit, lead to an increase in rail transportation volume and provide a better rail service for passengers in the Greater Taichung region.
