Filling old meanders and creating new space for development

The straightening of Keelung River created two new plots of reclaimed land, located between Chungshan Bridge and Chengmei Bridge and between Chengmei Bridge and Nanhu Bridge and covering a total area of 242 hectares. Taipei City Government engaged MAA to plan and design common duct utilities for both pieces of land.

 

Common utility duct planning and design

The major and minor ducts are located under Jiouzong Road and Singshan Road. The total major duct length is 1.5 km long and contains electricity (including a 161 KV transmission cable and a 22.8 KV distribution cable) and telecommunication cables. The minor duct is built under sidewalks and contains a total of 5.5 km of electric cable. The project ended in 2001 and was the first complete operational common duct in Taiwan.
