The largest and most successful recent land development in Southeast Asia

In 1993, the Phu My Hung Corporation, a joint venture between Taiwanese businessman Lawrence S. Ting’s CT&D Group and the Ho Chi Minh City Government, decided to create Saigon South, a large, modern 2600 ha, 1 million people phased urban expansion for Ho Chi Minh City.

Extensive involvement of MAA and SURV

Along with SOM, Koetter Kim and Kenzo Tange, MAA and its associated architecture firm, SURV, took part in the project. MAA was in charge of infrastructure design for the South Saigon downtown, the Merchandise Center and the Nguyen Van Linh Parkway crossing the new development from East to West, while SURV designed the Site E masterplan, the S18 building, C Star Hill District and Panorama residential high-rises as well as the Lawrence S. Ting Memorial School.

2012 ULI Global Awards for Excellence winner

With its mixed-use urban environment, public transportation lines and pleasant open areas, Saigon South is a symbol of the new Vietnam and has won multiple awards in recognition of its environmental and economic achievements.
