Green development in Zhejiang Province
Located south of Jiaxing in Zhejiang Province, this award-winning project preserves two-third of the 1100 ha site as farmland and creates a low-density mixed-use new town combining urban and natural features. Irrigation canals as well as the distinctive Jiangnan architecture are preserved while terraced bioswales and constructed wetlands filter and cleanse wastewater.
Complex engineering design mixing natural and urban elements
Along with Sherwood Engineers, MAA was charged with implementing the vision laid out by SOM in its masterplan and was put in charge of infrastructure design for the whole development. The integration of the development with existing wetlands was especially challenging. In addition, MAA’s associated architecture firm, SURV, designed the new Jiaxing Alliance Bilingual School, for which MAA provided BIM design services. Nanhu New Country Village is currently applying for LEED Neighborhood Development Certification.
