Relieving congestion between Taichung and Nantou
This project’s purpose is to relieve traffic congestion on Provincial highway No.3. The project, connecting the Highways No. 3 & 4 in Greater Taichung, local highway 127, provincial highway No.4 & No.4A and freeways, can improve the traffic condition between Taichung and Nantou and promote the economic and urban development in great Taichung area.
Project characteristics and construction methods
The project is 17.1 km in length, including surface road, interchanges, and a viaduct of 9.7 km. The road is a 2x3 lanes highway. The viaducts are built by pre-cast method, incremental launching method and free-cantilever method with prestressed and steel girders.
