Flyovers for the Singapore expressway network

RSEA International Ltd. selected MAA as designer for their turnkey contract to build the Braddell Road Flyover in Singapore. The Central Expressway (CTE) flyover crosses the six-lane Braddell Road and runs south towards Toa Payoh and north to Ang Mo Kio. The total length of the main bridge is 416 m resting on 12 piers and the two slip roads are 660 m long. One of the major design requirements was that the primary consolidation of subsoils underlying the approach fills had to be completed by the end of construction and the residual settlement could not be more than 5 cm per year. Pre-compression of the soft sub-soils was achieved by using prefabricated drains and surcharge. The entire project was completed in 24 months. MAA also designed a similar flyover crossing Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3.
