Improving traffic in the Greater Hsinchu region
This road is part of Taiwan’s western corridor transportation system and connects the coastal expressway with Highways no. 1 and 3 and with the Hsinchu HSR Station, enabling easy circulation in the Greater Hsinchu region.
Project characteristics and challenges
The total length of the project is 20 km, including surface roads, five interchanges and a four traffic lanes viaduct with a total length of 14 km. The local road is designed to be a 2x4 highway. Since the alignment lies along the south bank of Tao-Chiang River, the river dikes have to be carefully protected when the piling works are under construction.
